Many do not realize how much it costs to equip a volunteer fireman - not to mention the general cost of NFPA certified training, equipment, and vehicles. Our firefighters need this specialized equipment to respond to emergencies in our community. Just simply the gear that a firefighter must wear to protect themselves and their lungs while fighting fires is depicted here is very expensive. The equipment purchase price is just one part of the firefighting equipment cost. Equipment needs to be maintained. If it’s not working, firefighters can’t effectively protect you or themselves.
