TEFRA Hearing for Lease-Purchase Agreement
The Briaroaks Fire Department is excited to announce that we are adding on to station 1 to provide sleeping quarters for our firefighters to more comfortably provide 24 hour coverage to our community. This addition will provide 4 double occupancy bunk rooms and an indoor workout area in a separate but attached building. To partially fund this purchase, we will be seeking financing through a Lease-Purchase agreement, the conditions of which are governed by TEFRA which requires a public hearing. The notice of public hearing is being posted in accordance with TEFRA rules and the hearing will be held on September 24, 2025 at 6pm at Station 1.Why do you send so many fire vehicles to a fire, especially a small fire?
Each fire truck carries a specific complement of equipment and personnel. There are a number of specialized roles that firefighters undertake at the scene of a fire, and firefighting is a very labor-intensive activity. Firefighters must be rotated out periodically in order to change out air bottles and physically rest to maintain the ability to work on the fireground.
For this reason, it is essential to have enough firefighters on the scene of an incident so that our personnel can adequately recover between assignments. Even a small fire can be unpredictable and can become large and out of control quickly unless sufficient resources are available.
